tell us what do you plan to sell, and what kind of sales volume do you forsee in the near future?
Telling us such would help us gauge what could happen to your home business?
zillions of internet sellers are running their business from home, using spareroom, garage closets etc to store their inventory and their den .dining table,/desk as their office.
But they mostly sell small physical items, some sell digital then there is no warehousing issue.
If you are making your own handicraft, you may want to look into your homeowner policy .
does it catch fire easily?
does it require storage with temperature control?
Do you need to take out extra insurance due to the value of the item?
also tax consequence, how do you plan to report your income ?
You would also be expected to collect sales tax,use tax and remit to your state .
and where do you plan to sell and how do you plan to collect payments?

Unless you are selling dollar bill for 50 cents, else there are plenty of competition out there for most categories of goods, phycical or virtual/digital.
Dont spend the money on LLC and extra insurance, just start making and listing some and see how it goes, worry about these issues later.

We were home based for many years. The only possible sign was UPS dropping off in the morning and picking up in the late afternoon. Nowadays, people get more deliveries so it would be even less noticeable.

We did not need any sort of inspections to get our city license because customers weren't coming to our location. When we moved to a retail store, then yes, we had to be inspected.

We're set up as sole proprietors, not LLC. We can buy business insurance. If you're doing artwork or tees, I don't see a reason why you need to have an LLC, it just makes things more difficult. Just do good business and take care of your customers if you mess up, don't use other people's images, you should be okay.

If you don't want to use your home address, you could get a PO Box for pretty cheap.

Well, if you run a crooked business or owe the IRS, I guess you could get suspended or blocked by various entities. Most small businesses are sole proprietors that use EIN's not their SSN's.
