7-Eleven has opened a cashierless store at its corporate headquarters in Texas as a test before launching to a "wider audience."

This is interesting, unlike McDonalds and others replacing humans to save labor cost, this seems more for appealing to tech savvy people that are in a hurry. I have never been to a 7-11 that had more than one cashier (though most have 2 registers). Obviously someone has to be at the store to prevent theft and handle problems, so no labor cost is saved by eliminating a cashier.
