I heard that as soon as tomorrow Nieman Marcus may file bankruptcy. Would Niemans file chapter 11 or chapter 7

Would hbc aka Hudson Bay buy out nieman Marcus??

Also would Bloomingdale's owned buy Macy's take over any of the vacant Nieman Marcus locations if Neiman Marcus goes out of bussiness??

As one stated previously standard leveraged buyout (loading a company down with debt) is largely to blame for NM's woes.

Hudson Bay is barely keeping its own head above water, they are in no position to take on anything else.

Bloomingdale's/Macys? Ditto.

Department stores in USA have been dying a slow death for decades now for various reasons. Covid-19 likely will put final nail in coffin for many remaining.

I heard once on the news, but nothing more, that Lord & Taylor also has or plans to file.

Nieman Marcus will file Chapter 11 if they file. If they can work our terms with their creditors, they will shrink and reorganize, or be sold cheap (perhaps to Hudson Bay). Chapter 7s are usually the last resort, not the first.

Hudson Bay owns Saks and Lord & Taylor.
