For the past four years, I have been working for a providing company through their CDS (Consumer Direct Services) option. Recently throughout Covid, I have been researching ways to start my own company doing the same thing. I already have four clients that are stuck with me for life. The problem is I don't make anything with the providing company. The only difference would be that I would handle my own clients which I already have while running my own company.

I have checked out this website here Instructions of what's needed (TEXAS) but when I called, they were saying I already need a company before this, hence lies my problem.

Is anyone familiar with what steps one needs to take to get a Non-Medical Independent living company?
Basically the kind of persons the help seniors in the home with cleaning, companionship, cooking, etc

It might be very state or even city-specific OP. I'd suggest finding such a business that already exists where you want to operate in TX and ask them what requirements they needed in order to be licensed.

Tried it, Unfortunately; businesses that are already in operation are not just going to give you an advantage. You'd be just another competitor.

Understandable. So, have you talked to the local licensing entity (City? County? State?) about what the requirements are?

Yes, pertaining to the state; they expect you to have your stuff together before you approach them. Stuff? You are expected to do that on your own time. Deadend, hence the current problem.

Pertaining to the county, they were clueless. To make matters worse, communication is through email since covid-19 has happened.

On the bright side, I was able to get a hold of a sole proprietorship in the business and the only cue she gave me was, "first, get a DBA"

From what I have found out so far is a DBA is needed first and the Licensed HCSSA Provider website is fourth. There are two more things needed before you can approach the website. Hopefully, someone will chime in on what that is.

I took a look and read through it. It missed two of the important steps I knew of. There are two additional steps one needs in the state of Texas. Thank you for helping me out though. Maybe some others can chime in.
