That's right! I would like to start a thrift shop and give part of the proceeds to animal shelters. My town has a couple of shops, but none of them are about the welfare of animals. I see a need, but could use the thoughts and knowlegde of others to help me in this venture. My plan is to gather together enough objects to fill a shop within the next few months and be ready to open by April 09'. HOW do I let people know of my intentions and ask for their donations? What are your thoughts on flyers on windshields? How would you go about this? Thanks for any suggestions you can share with me.
I wouldn't start a business nowhere, nohow right now. You'll be a fool to do it. Scrape together all the cash you can find, hold a huge garage sale of that stuff you've already accumulated, and work two jobs to save. Because it's not an economy where a startup of any description can survive.
Do you think buying a house right now is a good idea, or just keep waiting for the bottom?

don't look at housing inventory but instead check in the area you are interested in and see if the prices are still dropping. once the prices start to increase, the bottom has probably be reached. you really need to monitor the data for your own area since it is regional.
Grand Rivers Humane | All Pets Deserve a Home We have this thrift store in our town. I do try to donate things there if I have something that I think they can make a good amount of money selling.
Have you checked out tgtbt.com, and I believe it is Narts.com? The first is an amzaing resource for potential and current resale store owners. The second is a national owners assoc. Much success to you!
