I know that you can only schedule pickups at the home for priority mail and above, but do you need to drop off media mail at the post office or can you drop it off at one of those blue postal boxes? I used paypal to purchase/print the postage already so I don't need to affix additional postage.

Why not call your local post office for a quick answer.

If its just a few things you should be able to just drop it off in one of the blue boxes. But if I recall correctly you can't put anything above 13 ounces in them for security reasons.

Most post offices have an area where you can just drop off boxes/tubes filled with mail. At mine I just go in the back and leave it on the loading dock.

If you are putting a lot of things in them it may **** off the postal worker though because it will over flow the box.....and if the guy is having a bad day well....ya know.

I always put packages in the blue boxes and I've never had a problem. The sign on the boxes say that any package over 13 ounces cannot have stamps on them for postage, but if you buy the postage from paypal and print the label out, then you can leave them in the blue boxes

I posted this at 10:30 at night and was hoping to have an answer before morning, but thanks so much for the helpful response. I know there are different rules for "stamps" where they [post office] can't track the sender, and when it's computer generated "postage" and they can.

I also know that you can schedule a pickup of packages at your house, but that only works for certain classes of mail (priority 2-3 day and above) and if you have an outgoing package of either priority or express mail, the mailperson will also pick up media mail packages at the same time. But if you only have media mail, you can't use that service.

I'm always confused about what pieces you can just put in your mailbox (i.e. letters, bills), what pieces you can drop in one of those blue collection boxes, and what pieces you need to bring to the post office.
