The salaries are not that out of touch with other insurance companies, especially VP/Mgr levels in NYC.

These salaries are normal for these kinds of positions.

What's your point, James?

I don't know how far $125K goes in NYC unless you want a 1.5-2 hour commute every day. The average was $89K.

I agree these sound pretty normal, esp considering the COL in the NY metro area.

I don't see anything abnormal about the title / salary information.

I worked in New York City and suburbs for over thirty years. These salaries are market appropriate and not out of line with other insurance companies or other service companies.

In New York, my company starts kids straight out of school at between $50k and $60k. With 6 years experience they are usually at around $100k. If they are good, at 10 years experience, they are somewhere between $160k and $200k.

That is the New York market place and AIG looks to be in line with that.

Actually these salaries are on the lower middle scale for New York. I just hope that all or most of these positions will include healthy bonuses that are not shown.

Hey, in the Wall Street investment bank world managing directors made as much as $25 million. Some senior managers made well into 8 figures. Many fifth year specialists made well into 7 figures and even third year analysts made $300k-$500k. Of course that was back a few years ago... And these people were the brightest of the bright coming from Ivy schools. Top jobs in NYC have top salaries. Companies trying to hire top people for less than the going price soon find they can't get top people!
