Maybe check out SBA business forums. I also join a lot of blog communities that relate to the industry you want to go into for business. Networking with people helps a great deal.
I've done this myself. Also look for some workshops in your area. Sometimes the people that teach or organize those workshops are veteran professionals or business consultants in the area of your interest.
