I'm setting up a community tennis club, the club will be open to all and provide free programming to the community. Some things like private lessons and tournaments will have a fee though. All procedes except for my salary will go towards park maintenance, free community programming and to local charities and scholarships.

I was originally trying to establish this as a not for profit organization. However, most of our costs are going to be provided by an already existing non profit that funds park programming. They advised me to simply form a club and do not claim tax exemption status.

However, doesn't this (being just a club) keep my from accepting donations. Any advise? Basically we are a club under an umbrella of a not for profit, can i still get paid for my services, can we make charitable donations, and can we accept donations. Should i form an LLC, I'm so confused.

Thank you.
