I think this is precious. This company, who employs independent contractors is going to require that they have only employees and not independent contractors. Is this right?

Then the independent contractors aren't "independent" are they?
I would think that this employer is looking at getting themselves into trouble w/ the Dept. of Labor and the IRS.
There are strict guidelines for employing people as independent contractors.
They seem to be violating them.

As an independent contractor, in times of backlogged schedules I have every right to hire and subcontract who I wish.

I am not their employee and they have no business in my business.
Commission me to do a job on a contract with a scope payment and I will do what I need to complete the work to or above standards.
