In the first photo - is the water really that blue and are the mountains really that close?

The water is really that blue. It's crystal clear, and flippin cold. You can drive the two hours to Bow Glacier/Peyto Lake and see where the river originated.
The mountains appear closer on some days than others. It's about 40 miles as the crow flies to the mountains. So, yes, they're that close.

What do you mean?
Because it's winter now? or is there construction going on?
Are you missing Calgary? or are you still enjoying Houston?
(no Rocky Mtns near Houston, pretty flat  )
Anyway Calgary sure looks good in those photos

The Bow is almost complete. It's reached its top height and tenants should be moving in this year.
