Calgary Police Chief Rick Hanson says it’s "the worst murder, mass murder in Calgary history"

On the last day of classes at the University of Calgary, students celebrate with Bermuda Shorts Day. The partying starts early in the day with live music and lots of drinking. Many students take the party off campus to house parties when the campus parties shut down. There was a house party near the university where about 30 students were gathered. The suspect arrived at the party after work and, later in the evening, stabbed five people. Three died at the scene, two died later. The suspect, an invited guest, completed a science degree specializing in psychology and had been accepted to law school.
