I have a friend working for this company and he helped me talking to the hiring manager about my resume for analyst position. My friend forwarded the email from the hiring manager in which the hiring mgr explaining about the strong 190 applicant that he received and that I have not selected for an interview. This position is the 2nd position within the company that I applied and the first position also has approx 200 applicant. Looks like calgary's low unemployment rate doesn't mean it is easy to get a job huh?
Yeah it's not easy to get a job anywhere including Calgary there's no doubt about that. But compared all other cities in Canada it's the easiest and there's a lot of companies hiring.
The keyword here is "compared". What I think true is it's easy to find retail job and the like but it's not easy for professional work. That said, statistically, 190 might be a much lower number "compared" to other cities in canada (it could be 350 in other cities), but, in reality, when you have to compete with 190 people for 1 job, the difficulties is the same "compared" to other cities.
