Hello, im 24 and i live in toronto and i am struggling to find a job in accounting field here. All jobs require years of relative experience which i dont have. I am thinking of moving to Calgary for 2 months hoping to find a job within that time period.

Can anyone recommend a good place to stay short-term? and the range for rent? and any specific area where most of the jobs are available (like downtown area)?

i don't know anybody in Calgary so any advice/suggestions will help.

Thanks.

Rent in Calgary will be similar to Toronto. A lot of accounting jobs are downtown. Most accountants I know (and I know a lot of them) work downtown.

Obviously experience in the feild is a huge asset here. Most oil and gas companies (at least the exploration and production companies) want oil and gas experience.

We are approaching year end, so i would expect a lot of firms will be looking for help, mostly with contract work. Compensation can be really good for these positions.

hmm..i don't have any experience in oil and gas industry unfortunately. But I do want to move to Calgary. someone from the RobertHalf agency said I will have a hard time looking for a place to rent (short-term) for now more than getting a job.

I just want some kind of guarantee that I will be able to get a job of $40k - $45k within 2 months. I know that may be tough. I mean I only have 2 years of mainly Accounts Payable experience so maybe my salary expectations are too high. i really cant decide...

Salary expectations aren't too high. There aren't many office workers in calgary making less than 40k

Also, if you are looking to stay in the a/p role, lack of industry experience would be less of a hinderance.
