There are many, many more examples defending viewpoints that would not be described as "liberal". The reason you think the ACLU only defends "liberal views" is that Fox News and the rest of the conservatati bleat for months on end when the ACLU defends someone they think shouldn't be defended, but do you think Sean Hannity would ever mention the ACLU defending a conservative?

Don't hold your breath...

I can't believe anyone would consider McCain a hero since he has totally flip flopped on just about everything he use to support in order to win in this coming election. McCain was one of the strongest advocates of an open border and providing citizenship for illegals. But "changed" his mind when the political winds scared him. McCain has lost so much respect that even people in Arizona consider him a coward and phony.

I often wonder if anyone other then c-d members read the threads on this website. Maybe if the politicians did they would learn from it. I highly doubt it though.

Sorry for this but anyone who's inspired by John McCain was probably inspired by their high school English teacher! A hero? Really? Yes he's flipped-flopped. He's also one of those that preach about family values but conveniently leaves out the fact that he left his dying wife for a young model. Yeah that's a real freaking hero for ya

Sorry Cal Sur to use your response but I figured I'd add my two cents on this one. I too can't believe any sensible person would ever say such a thing

I used to admire McCain but he became so blatantly opportunistic when he ran for president that many people didn't recognize him. Now McCain is a total sell out to anything that will get him votes. But his wife, Cindy, is a class act and a fox as well.

When it comes to Reagan, I certainly do know more than you could ever know. I will leave it at that.

Do I know everything? Of course not, but in this case I do.

Oh, I am not embarrassed at all, anymore than you are embarrassed with the Democrats. I am slightly more open minded than you.

BTW, health care is my profession. I live in a lily white area of Illinois. The vast majority of deadbeats who show up in the ER or in the office and don't pay their bills are whites. Perhaps I should ask them next time to produce their birth certificates and US passports. For all I know, they could all be illegals. My bad!
That's because the feds pay for the illegals.

Actually, you know sometime I agree. Lets just open ALL borders and not have any resident status. We can take all refugees from all countries. We will do exactly as "The New Colossus" states at the Liberty National Monument:

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Lets see how long we are able to continue our form of government...
mmmm, isn't that how your predecessors got here?

The illegals are costing the tax payers of ca 20 billion dollars a yr. The ca deficit is 20 billion. Do the math.
This is just nonsense.

Here is a statistic for you. The value of Agriculture in California is about 36 billion a year. About 80% are illegals. 80% of 36 billion is roughly, 29 billion dollars.

So, even if your figure was correct, which no responsible research indicates anything like that, Illegals contribute a net gain of 9 billion bucks a year to California.
