Hi all,

I'm visiting LA in August and have time for shopping. Can any one suggest a premium outlet? I have been told about Premium Outlet in Camarillo. Is this worth while or a waste of time, any suggestions?

I'll also be visiting San Francisco / Vegas and Manhattan should I save the shopping till these locations?

I have been to a dozen of these outlet malls. Never seen any prices that were better than elsewhere. Girl friends always seemed to like them.

Also just west of Vegas before you get to Primm. We too, always shop there when visiting NV.

There is a Premium Outlet just north of the strip in Vegas.

I believe the Primm Outlet Mall is about an hours drive from Vegas (at the California/Nevada Border).

I think all the Outlet malls are the same, for the most part. I don't think they're that worthwhile. Some of the biggers ones are okay, but they're usually far away (like Camarillo, Cabazon near LA, or Gilroy, Vacaville near SF).

Hi Thanks for the responses.

I ended up going to Woodbury Common Premium Outlets 498 Red Apple Court Central Valley, NY 10917

Highly recommend this outlet. Prices are great (you have to look for the bargains some prices seemed to be the same as retail) got some great deals on nautica, RL Polo and Armani to name a few.

There are also outlets in Gilroy (south of San Jose), Tulare (half way between Bakersfield and Fresno), Vacaville and Folsom (both outside Sacramento).

I don't know what to say about prices. I've always thought they were more expensive than big box retailers, and the only real advantage to shopping in them is you can buy some items that are hard to find in big box stores. Especially now that retailers have been focusing on selling any type of product for the least amount to attract customers. Thus, they may only carry several lines of Nike shoes, for example.

Since the economy has slowed down I've noticed the outlets are being used a little more like a clearance center. $22.00 Puma tshirts are being sold at outlets for $15.00, which is an OK price for a name brand tshirt, but still well above the price of tshirts sold at JcPenney or Target. And for what it is worth, I've noticed Nike products often go on sale at JcPenney and Sports Authority for much less than you will ever find in a Nike store at one of the outlets.
