Default These are the acceptable areas....

Lake Tahoe (e.g., Dollar Point), Sierra ski resorts (e.g., Sugar Bowl), other Sierra (Fallen Leaf Lake) Napa Valley (Rutherford, St. Helena, Yountville), Sonoma County (The Sea Ranch), Marin County (Belvedere, Ross, Kentfield, Tiburon, Mill Valley, Sausalito, Muir Beach, Stinson Beach/Seadrift, Bolinas), San Francisco (Pacific Heights, Presideo Heights, Nob Hill, Russian Hill, Telegraph Hill, Sea Cliff), the San Francisco Peninsula (Hillsborough, Atherton, Woodside, Portola Valley, Los Altos Hills), San Jose area (Los Gatos, Saratoga, Monte Sereno), Santa Cruz area (Pasatiempo, Santa Cruz mountains, Aptos (on the beach), the Monterey Peninsula (Pebble Beach, Carmel, Carmel Valley, Carmel Highlands, Big Sur), Santa Barbara Area (Santa Ynez Valley, Hope Ranch, Montecito, the Riviera, Mission Canyon, Upper East Side, Rincon Del Mar), West Los Angeles (Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica, Brentwood, Bel-Air, Holmby Hills, Beverly Hills, Hancock Park, Hollywood Hills), Los Angeles beach areas (Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Venice, Marina Del Rey, Playa Del Rey), Palos Verdes Peninsula (Palos Verdes, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates), Long Beach (Naples) Pasadena Area (San Marino, parts of Pasadena, La Canada, Flintridge), San Fernando Valley (Encino, Hidden Hills, Calabasas Park), Orange County (Newport Beach including Lido, Linda and Balboa islands, Laguna Beach, Emerald Bay, Orange Coast, parts of San Clemente), San Diego area (La Jolla, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, Coronado, beachfront in Carlsbad), the desert (Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells, Palm Springs.)

If you want the million dollar setting without the million dollar price tag, then you have to go to the far north coast (Humboldt, Mendocino, Arcata, etc.)

I'd be content with any of the three. PV would probably be my first choice. I'm sure going to miss going to Lakers and Trojan games.

Palos Verdes
Newport Beach
Monterey

So far, I'd say a mansion by the beach, maybe in Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, or San Diego. Maybe Pacific Palisades, Holmby Hills, or Bel Air. Now, I haven't been in Northern CA much, so I'd have to see what that has to offer too.

I would be living where all the movie stars in LA live.
