Get this: They. Don't. Care.

They know that most people won't do a thing. They can ignore a few vociferous complainers.
I agree. Yucaipa is a very conservative town plus the big news here was about the teen girls sending nudes of themselves (sexting) to greasy haired, zit faced adolesent boys. Aging actress susan anton is a yucaipa area native...YAWZ. This is a boring isolated city full of speed freaks.

My comment is about politicians in general. The specific are just examples of the more general. Politicians just don't get it. They're the same everywhere, don't listen to we public. Would rather hire a media consultant to adjust the lies to get the most possible votes.

It makes perfect sense if you understand how the system works. Laws are not written to benefit the people. Laws are written by big business, to benefit big business. That is just reality.

Not the only way it works in States with the Initiative process...

Plenty of non-profit, environmental groups and even religious organization get laws on the books.

Sure you can put them on the books with an initiative, but if the powers that be decide they want something different, it will be overturned and called unconstitutional. The people of California did not want to pay for the education of illegal aliens, and Mexican nationals. They also wanted the right to determine the definition of the word marriage, but the government and big business had a different agenda.

Very true in many instances...

The opposite has proved true with California's Prop 13... a voter initiative that limited property tax increases... government didn't want it and fought it tooth and nail... eventually, the Supreme Court let it stand.

I do not believe everyone in government thought prop 13 was a bad thing; it has been mostly the educational lobby that has fought it. I think the rest of the government realized that prop 13 was instrumental in the California housing boom that lasted nearly 40 years and put billions in state and local government coffers.

Yep! And the state budget has been on a downward spiral ever since!

What about the years with balanced budgets?

The Controller's office recently announced this is the first year, in recent times, revenues will be less than previous...

Years with large revenue increases saw even bigger expenditure increases.
