As far as calling it Cali, I don't think anyone's going to start WW3 on the streets over it.
Not as badly as myself using NoCal over NorCal.
But that's another story not worth revisiting.
You are correct about the lack of schools in Bishop.

The OP may want to save Bishop for a post-school place to live.

Fresno... I wouldn't call it a big city, more like a big barn - zing, kidding. It's around a 45min drive to Yosemite and you may just fit in with the people of Fresno.

No! Please don't go to Fresno...

Actually, I don't think it's a bad fit given what you wrote, but...

All attitude aside, California is not in the best shape currently. Go where you are able to attend rad tech training. Personally, given the Warthog association, I'd recommend San Antonio. I know, I know, but it's just your training period. Ton's of Air Force personnel, ton's of employment (relative to California), and then charge to California when you have a job lined up. The weather is warm/humid during the summers, but the flights are cheap up to Colorado for skiing.

Just my 2 cent's and good luck.

Why would you recommend San Antonio given that? A-10s aren't assigned to San Antonio. The only training I had there was BMT.

I didn't mean to imply an association with a specific plane and San Antonio. I meant an association of the Air Force and San Antonio. And since you did basic there, you already know the town. It's just "Air Force" friendly, and the health care field is booming...

I think you can get recommendations for places where you're likely to get takers for this sort of activity.
