Ok what is going on with the temperature of the ocean here in Huntington Beach and I am sure all down the southern California coast. The ocean is only 54 to 57 degrees, hey its summer and the end of August the temperature should be around 65-68 degrees. Go surfing have to wear a wet suit or freeze. Let me know what you think.

Yeah it's been very cold all summer pretty much, especially the last month. By far the coldest summer ocean temps I've seen in my 9 years down here. It's sucks, it should be around 70 right now. I can't believe how cold some of the temps have been in SoCal this summer, but it kind of matches our cool summer weather earlier I suppose. I know there is a La Nina occurring right now so maybe that has something to do with it. This def has been one cool, odd summer both with air and water temps.

It is always cold up here in Ventura County. I would wear a wet suit in Malibu as well. Maybe I am just a baby though. LOL

Your livin' "la Nina" loca this year along the Pacific Seaboard. Should be a very nice winter in So-Cal this year. However I wouldn't want to be in the Gulf Coast states this Hurricane Season. Could be a nasty season from what all the weather models are predicting. *Sing it Ricky!!! one two three four livin' la nina loca...*

I noticed it too in San Clemente last weekend -- put my feet in the water and they almost froze off!

California beaches are ALWAYS cold. Funny thing is ... I grew up in LA/OC and the water was fine. Since I moved to the desert some 15 years ago, the water is now cold.

Definitely colder this year than usual though. I usually find temps this time of year (high 60s low 70s) tolerable without a wetsuit. This year, not so much.
