I'd appreciate hearing from someone who has experience or, information about living in a mobile home community in the Santa Barbara, CA area? I'm a widowed senior who's been told there are some lovely, safe retirement communities located near the ocean. Would like your honest opinion.

Wink Mobile home park

My wife and I have found a resident owned park in San Clemente in South Orange County a mile and a half from the ocean. The community web site is www.scterrace.com

Mandalay Shores in Oxnard, on the beach at 5th street, Harbor Blvd and Ocean Drive is one you may want to look at. It is at the North end of what was formally Oxnard Shores Beach. (Translplants wanted a name change to Mandalay Shores. Original residents stepped in and now the beach seems to be called Mandalay Shores at Oxnard Shores or something to that affect. Anyway I digress. The park is very nice and in a very safe area of Oxnard. My parents has some good friends that lived there some years back. I know it is not Santa Barbara, but it is on the beach and within a short drive to Santa Barbara.

If you can, find one where you own the land. There's such a mobile/manufactured-home park in Goleta on Ward Drive near UCSB.

I've lived in mobile/manufactured homes a couple of times in my life (in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties) and always found them to be very quiet and very safe. I liked it very much!
