Hi guys,

I will be moving to California for school this Spring or Summer (to establish residency for 1 yr) and hopefully begin in the Fall of 2012. I will be applying to a Masters of Arts in Teaching program - the only one I have looked at that might work so far is UC-Irvine.

What is Irvine like? Is it a safe area? Would I be bored there as a 25/26 year old?

Are there any other public colleges or universities that you all can think of that have MAT or teacher preparation programs?

Thanks very much in advance!!

-Matt

Why CA? Do you have a job lined up for that year you will be establishing redency? I only ask because there might be a better way to go wherever you currently live. You need backups since you aren't guarenteed to get into a school in CA.

Irvine is an excellent area and there are nearby areas like newport beach and huntington beach for young adult activities like getting drunk, surfing, and raising hell

No, but I live in a very small state on the east coast where there are no state schools that offer a Master of Arts in Teaching that I am interested in. Ive done some research, and California and Texas have very reasonable in state tuitions.

UCI is hard to get into, just as difficult to get into as UCLA or USC. Before moving you need a job secured.
that is a necessity lo live not an option
