Don't forget that a lot of biotech companies in California are spinoffs of projects started in the California university system. I suspect some of these doctors are those responsible for biotech patents and other research that starts these companies. It looks like a good portion of their pay is "extra" or "bonus" pay.

Both Amgen and Genentech started in the California university system.

I'm pretty sure professors at private universities such as USC and Stanford earn similar amounts.

I was told ca has the highest paid educators in the nation.

Thats just the way it is & always will be. Plenty of money to be earned in ca if you are well educated & knowing a few "higher ups" may help you get that high paying job.

I dont feel many professors deserve the excessive pay.

The students can either apply for more student aid, get a p/t job, go to a community college or quit school & get a f/t job.

I do know college grads are at the employment office applying for min wage (or slightly above) jobs.

This little inconvenient fact is something that those who rail against professor pay or rising tuition costs seem to forget.

But you get it all back in the extra taxes generated from those students' higher incomes over their careers.

Why wont the college grads take a 45k yr job ? Thats a decent salary.

Maybe the college grads want the security, benefits & future pension of a govt job.

The govt employees (city, county, state & fed) have it made in the shade + some of them have chips on their shoulders (like the dmv) who are going to have them knocked off some day.

Code enforcement in yucaipa actually harasses people. PUNKS!!!!!

Because other companies in the area are offering them in the 50s. Of course they'd have to be able to get a clearance for a lot of these, something a lot of Californians wouldn't be able to do, particularly if they're pot smokers.
