I kind of like their thinking.

Maybe we can allow murder, and "tax" it $1,000,000 per kill. Do you think that would put a dent in our unbalanced budget? We could also decriminalize a whole bevy of crimes and tax them. The possibilities are endless.
How does a PHD in wealthy and well educated Orange County come to the conclusion that marijuana legalization would somehow open the door to legalized murder? If that is true what does legalized alcohol and tobacco equal? I'd say we've already got legalized murder in those two substances.

Wouldn't you agree that any additional money the legislature gets as the result of marijuana legalization will only fuel their tax and spend mentality, rather than reduce the debt. To really solve the debt problem you have to tackle it at the source, and that's the legislature itself.

Since California has the ballot referendum as a tool, why don't you and your fellow conservatives start a petition to rein in the legislature's ability to legislate additional unfunded social programs?

The only reason Mexico is against Prop. 19 is that it will put a damper on its drug cartels. If it becomes legal to grow and possess it here, why would we need the Mexican drug cartels to import it? Mexico is looking out for its own bottom line.

That would be my guess, that Mexican drug lords would lose revenue if Californians can grow and legally smoke their own pot.

What I don't understand is why California would need to rely on drug cartels from Mexico. Isn't all the marijuana sold in dispensaries grown in California? Some of the best quality weed comes from northern California. Ironically those growers are opposed to Prop 19 because the price of marijuana would drop even more and people could just grow their own anyway. I can't see how legalizing marijuana in California would increase drug activity in Mexico. Canada legalized marijuana years ago; has that increased drug activity in the U.S.?

Because, as kind hearted and dream driven person once said:

It seems logical that legalizing marijuana in California would decrease marijuana production in Mexico and thus cause a net loss of profit to the Mexican marijuana industry. I believe that is what the objection is, although some may claim they believe increased drug use in California might cause increased drug use in Mexico. That sounds ridiculous to me, except as an excuse to object to legalization in California without sounding like a sycophant to the Mexican narcotrafficantes.

I'm not so sure 415 Native. Didn't you see "Reefer Madness" where a couple puffs of marijuana turned people into homicidal killers?
