A few 1000 engineers, entrepreneurs and financiers in PaloAlto area make CA the world's most economically powerful, innovative region...but rest of CA's ~38MM (hell, even the EastBay is an economic joke) are mockable economic underachievers (similar dynamics in ~18MM NYC region, outside of MidtownManhattan and Greenwich)

Suspect for most non-tech, non-financial industries, Dallas and Houston are far more efficient places...and have rather similar (and arguably superior) QOL vs suburban NYC or Chicago where most other such corporate HQs are based in distant suburbs like Armonk/OakBrook/Irving, etc

In a Net, globalized era, suburban Dallas/Houston are far more effective places for 99% of workers, aside from a few 1000 wealthy engineers and financiers who can easily afford to live/work in costly corridors like PaloAlto and can afford new, spacious housing and private schools in elite, leafy suburbs 10-20mins from their offices in industrial suburbs like Menlo/Cupertino/MtnVw, etc

Texas gets hail damage, tornados, dust storms, and blue northers. California has boring weather.

Texas and California both have good and bad aspects and, while there are definite historical connections between both states, have their own unique cultures.

One should not become the other. Both of our states have things to be proud of.

Are you freaking kidding me?!! Texas flat?! I was born and raised in FL - the real humid and flat state. Texas is NOT flat!! Have you been to San Antonio?! Don't run your mouth off about Texas before having seen everywhere. It's quite clear to me nobody likes California because you people are moving here in droves!! In spite of some pretty good views, CA is the most corrupted, most bankrupt, most illegally inhabited, drugged, and jobless state in all of America!! Meanwhile, 4 of our cities (that's Houston, Dallas, San Antonio AND Austin) are continually rated as best to live in with most economic stability, money, we have jobs, HOUSES (not $2000 apartment rentals) and family friendly. Something California would know NOTHING about. Very impressive indeed!
