With a small town like that you'd probably be best off contacting the local chamber of commerce. They should be able to supply you with information regarding the local paper and Realtors who deal with property management.

Bishop is a great place.

Just curious - what are you going to do there for work?

Where are you moving from and what do you expect of Bishop? Beautiful place but isolated from the front side of the Sierras especially in winter. Do you have work lined up or already financially set...

It would be a very bad idea to move to Bishop and expect to find work. For a town that small you had better have your employment lined up, or be retired or otherwise self-sufficient without work.

However you've got plenty of fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, skiing and all sorts of outdoor recreation opportunities nearby.

You have to watch the obituaries for job openings. People take their jobs to the grave.

I think you need to buy a home in Mammoth Lakes for Summer and Spring , and Bishop for winter and Fall.
Mammoth in Winter is hell, and Bishop in summer is an even worse hell with fireballs(well ok not really).

That area is very small with no other major city around, so if you need to live in a place with people, you might go crazy. Very beautiful place with the Sierras and White mountains.
I find the place to have too much of a cult-ish feel to it. There are way to many churches for the amount of people there.

There's not a lot of evening entertainment in Bishop beyond a few restaurants and bars. There's a lot more going on in Mammoth even in the summer, and a whole bunch more when ski season is going good, even live bands at some places.

Weather wise both places have mostly passable weather all year round, although of course you need chains when it's snowing hard. Although it would be nice to have places in both Bishop and Mammoth. Myself, I think I'd just live in Mammoth all year round. There'd be a few snow days where you have no choice about driving but you can walk to a ski lift and go skiing that day.

I think Bishop would get pretty boring living there year round, at least at night. Lots to do in the daytime in the outdoors though.
