Not surprisingly, the biggest pocket of “thin” states is in the Western half of the country. California, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, Idaho, New Mexico and Wyoming all had less than 26 percent obesity

There is a correlation between obesity and poverty and there is a correlation between obesity and percentage of African American population. Poor people tend to eat less healthily. They may be less educated on healthy habits including diet and exercise.

The south happens to have higher populations of poorer people and also African American people.

I'm still embarrassed that at 19%, CO is considered the slimmest... IT'S STILL 19% FREAKING PERCENT OF THE POPULATION.

Not quite right IMO.

Not a fat compared to thin issue. Our culture has been eating doctored foods longer now. Lots of overeating in general with diet foods that have contents that in fact bloat or poison you toward cancer.

Not fat and thin, more like fat and fatter yet! No joke.

If that is true, that seems to be quite the opposite of most countries. Maybe we need to redefine poverty.
