I think some of the other states are dumb.

A lot of them offer big financial incentives to get California companies to open branches in their states. This recently happened with Petco and San Antonio, TX. What's interesting is that San Antonio offered them $5+ million but Petco is NOT moving it's CEO and main people. Once the incentives run out, Petco will close up shop in San Antonio -- which is what almost every company does that takes the $$$$ incentives.

If Petco really thought "San Antonio is THE PLACE!" -- the CEO and everyone else would have moved there.

But, that's the problem. They don't think San Antonio is "THE PLACE" so they move satellite operations there but not the main headquarters.

If California had $5 million to offer them, they'd probably stay here. But we are broke. California taxpayers aren't as foolish as those in other states.
