I5 flows pretty well, You should be fine, just watch for the usual morons. 99 will be much more impacted.

We will drive to Reno tomorrow, I think we will slip between the storms. It is snowing heavily across the Sierra today, but is not supposed to do much tomorrow. I80 was closed today from Applegate to the Nevada state line.

Even though you will be driving on an interstate freeway in the middle of farm fields, don't expect speeds to be much over 60 mph. But given the speeds within metro areas, that probably does qualify as "flows pretty well."

The freeway WILL be packed though, so you could run into sub-60 stretches of road.

In my experience Thanksgiving eve is one of the worst traffic days of the year. You can count on heavy traffic if you encounter any "going home" commuter traffic from about 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

If you can, drive on I-5. I, for one, will be sticking on I-5 as I head back home to the bay area. Expect heavy speed limit enforcement though. The CHP will be out on the highways through Friday.
