I will be driving to Las Vegas to visit my grandmother over Thanksgiving weekend starting tomorrow (leaving early in the morning). I was wondering what day would be a better day to return to Los Angeles - Sunday or Monday? Or are they both going to be really crappy? Last year I flew, so this wasn't a problem.

Sundays at the end of holiday weekends are legendary for their momentous traffic jams on I-15 returning to Los Angeles (+IE & OC). My advice to you if you want light traffic, leave very early on Monday morning. By leaving early you can get a significant part of your trip done before lazy people hit the road, and you'll arrive in LA before any evening commuter traffic.

leave very early tomorrow and make sure to bring a good pair of sunglasses as you'll be driving into the sun most of the way. morning driving to the desert can be difficult due to all the glare. if you leave sunday, plan on a 7-8 hour drive, unless you leave at 8am. monday probably won't be much better.

Monday, if not Saturday. Don't even think about it on Sunday.

I've made the drive before, but never on a holiday weekend. So I know to bring sunglasses.
