Cooley never blamed whitman. He blamed voters like you who simply look for a letter after a name, and do nothing but parrot party spin. He has no reason to blame whitman, he got a larger percentage of dem voters than any other republican, largely because a good amount of people in the bay were appauled by harris's track record. some one who cant even keep their lab techies in check to the point of the court having to throw out 600drug cases, and having the lowest felony conviction rate of any big city in the US is a walking disaster waiting to happen. But the naive people from So cal will find out soon enough.

Cooley's campaign manager said that Whitman's 12 point loss dragged all the other Republicans down with her. But Whitman's strategist blames the unions:

"Murphy said public-employee unions own California and the state traditionally votes Democratic, even in years when the rest of the nation is going Republican.
Murphy said he takes responsibility for Whitman's loss -- then he didn't, deflecting the blame to others. This is from the Los Angeles Times:
"We got beat. And, you know, I ran the campaign. I take responsibility for it," Murphy said Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press." "California is a very blue state, and it's getting bluer. As the red, you know, wave, kind of went one way, there was a bit of blue riptide coming the other way."

If you want to be technical, maybe he himself didn't blame Whitman, but his strategist blamed Whitman's loss:

Quote:
Cooley strategist Kevin Spillane sees it differently.

"The reality is that when you’re a down ballot candidate, you’re simply a sailboat on a rather large ocean and you are at the mercy of the wave.”

And in California the wave was deep blue, with every statewide race won by Democrats. Spillane said if GOP gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman had done better, Cooley would have won.

Last night's Charlie Rose show was, unsurprisingly, a post-mortem of the State of the Union speech. I was surprised, however, to see Kamala Harris on the panel of primarily journalists. Charlie Rose tends to favor east-coasters (I'm sure, partly, due to geography) and North Carolinians so I would have never expected him to tap a newly elected AG from the west coast in a non-legal capacity. She acquitted herself very well but seemed to almost speak as an Obama insider. Does she have close connections to the administration (a good thing)?

Harris was one of Obama's earliest backers and stumped for him in Iowa.

This has nothing to do with anything. Harris is not bad because she backed or backs Obama. She is bad because she was a pathetic excuse for a DA and plays into the typical SF/Nor Cal cronyism and corruption that is nearly on the level of places like Chicago and New Orleans.
