We absolutely need this to pass. If the AZ law is upheld there will be a mass criminal migration of people here from AZ.

What great news. As much as I love immigrants, California should have been the first to enact such a law.

This is gonna be really cool!!!

Now we can boycott our own state.

One of the things I just cannot understand is why we can't get the federal government to do its job by ensuring only legitimate immigration and by allowing employment to only people who have the legal right to work.

Well I don't know what more I can say. If we have the initiative I'll sign it, and if it qualifies for the ballot then I'll vote for it.

It would be ironic if Phoenix boycotts California the same way that Los Angeles boycotted Arizona.

100% True.

This is a Federal Issue and their deliberate inaction comes at a huge cost to states both financially and with respect to tensions created by diverse opinions on the issue. Its ridiculous and I believe the Fed is the biggest culprit in this entire controversy.

California should seek to be reimbursed(even retroactively) for all the money we've spent and continue to spend on caring for and helping Illegal Aliens who come here.

Its in all our best interest that people who are here illegally either through crossing the border, or overstaying a Visa, are given basic necessities. We can't have people just languishing in the streets, we can't have people going hungry, we can't have people doing nothing, their children cannot be allowed to go uneducated-that all leads to desperation and that's how crime begins.

So we do all the grunt work and the Fed just sits ildy by twittling its thumbs pretending like they don't know what's going on?

No, that's not right and our elected officials in DC need to clamor and make a huge fuss about getting our money back for doing at state level, what should be done at the Federal Level.

Regardless as to one's opinion on this issue, I think we can all agree that ultimately, Washington needs to step up to the plate and do its damn job.

Don't expect the Feds to get involved. For now we are on our own and it's way passed due that we start removing people here illegally AND use ALL of our law enforcement to do it too.

It will be shot down by the federal courts in CA just like they did Prop 187, and the governor will elect not to appeal just like Davis.

Exactly. And I'll bet major California Republican politicians are going to jump on this as yet another political wedge issue which will further marginalize their already low political standing in the state.

How can this be a Federal issue when California welcomes illegal immigration with open arms and even officially declares major cities as a sanctuary for the illegals? California created this problem and they should be responsible for fixing it. The sad thing is California won't fix it, especially after the recent election that kept California a strong progressive liberal state.
