I have a 29 year old partner who is overweight. He has been able to lose some weight, about 50 pounds so far, but these things take time. I've been trying for the last 6 months to get him on a health insurance plan. One after another, they've all declined him. They wouldn't even allow him on at a higher rate. This is someone with no other pre-existing conditions besides his BMI being outside the range they accept.

One of them recommended the California MRMIP program. They will accept higher-risk candidates with pre-existing conditions. But, it is already too expensive for me at the current rates, and when he turns 30 they will go up another 25%. I can't afford that.

And all the reds are calling to repeal health care reform.. what the hell for? So I can continue to not be able to insure my family?

You can go to the county hospital with little or no out of pocket expenses.
