Out of the five areas listed, Valenica/Santa Clarita is probably the best in terms of safety and the quality of schools.

Don't think you would want to live in Carson. My husband came from Carson and I came from San Pedro.

GreatSchools.net

Type in the city and state and it will pull up all the schools in that district and their ratings for test scores, read the pages with parental reviews also, that will give you some inside scoops from people on pros and cons of the schools.

What's wrong with Carson, if you don't mind me asking?

I would choose Santa Clarita/Valencia or Temecula, hands down.

All but Carson are going to be hot in summer. I hate hot.

What line of work are you in?

Bakersfield is pretty much standalone. If you have a job there then lose it, what would your plan B be?

Santa Clarita is nice to live in but the commute to the LA region is pretty bad.

My gut feeling is Santa Clarita will give you more choice for good schools. It is probably the most expensive of the choices. If you don't have to commute and don't mind hot, then maybe Moreno Valley will suit you.

Santa Clarita is the best choice of this list. Honestly I'm not fond of any of them. Santa Clarita is cut off from Los Angeles which is why people move there. It has newer stucco homes that all look alike, resulting in looking exactly like Las Vegas. Summers are blistering and it's chilly in the winter. It is safe and it does have good schools. How did you come up with this list?
