Mad men is such a whack show. But he is more like Sterling. Old, aloof, and spoiled due to his father's wealth.

I really wish I were making this up. This is even crazier than former Alabama governor Bob Riley claiming that God told him to raise taxes.

"When democratic ideals and calls for the right to vote are stirring the imagination of young people in Egypt and Tunisia and other parts of the world, we in California can’t say now is the time to block a vote of the people.”

LMAO, no.
Jeeeez, give the guy a chance to fart in his chair a little, will ya, before you start misrepresenting what he said. Otherwise, folks will start to wonder if maybe you are a little biased or something.

What Brown said was, what with people fighting for democratic rights in the Mid East, now is not the time to deny them to the people of California. Brown is referring to State GOP efforts to prevent the people of the state from getting the chance to vote up or down on the tax issue by trying to keep the choice off the ballot.

A clummsy and inappropriate analogy by Brown, in my opinion. But not really quite as goofy as the John and Ken mob are making it out to be.

For Brown to try to associate genuine political struggle where people are living in poverty and are protesting for the same kinds of freedom and opportunity we take for granted here in Amurrica with blaming a minority political party legally elected by the people all because they have the audacity to (gasp!) disagree with him is just plain dumb.

There is no taking this truckload of fail out of context. Brown made a completely idiotic statement that was both insensitive to the cause of the protesters while playing the role of a runaway partisan.

If he wants a tax increase, fine. Stick with that and forget the horrible analogies.

Some how I think if Glenn Beck had made this statement LepetitLiang would be singing its praises from the roof tops.

It all depends on whose goose you like to cook. If this statement by the boy was counter balanced with rational comments on Brown, that would be one thing, but this can just be dropped into the bucket of other pronunciamentos by young feller.

Right, you boys are Conservatives, nobody rational takes you seriously. Remember what John Stuart Mill said;
Quote:
I never meant to say that the Conservatives are generally stupid. I meant to say that stupid people are generally Conservative. I believe that is so obviously and universally admitted a principle that I hardly think any gentleman will deny it.

Ah, yes, the yammerings of yet another dead white European male from the 19th century. You know, the kind you think had nothing to add.

He also said the following seemingly espousing limited government which is an anethma to what you preach:

[QUOTE}The most cogent reason for restricting the interference of government is the great evil of adding unnecessarily to its power.[/quote]
