You have yet to show that I'm wrong, you have instead just created distractions. To say it again, Texas only has 3 tier 1 universities. That is a very small number for the 2nd largest state, as a result many top high school students in Texas have to look to other states if they want to receive an education by a tier 1 university. That is a brain-drain, but its also very damaging to Texas residents that have very smart kids but don't have the means to send them out of state.

So far you've only expressed concerned with overall higher taxes in California. In fact, you just waiting to see if a mirror tax increase is extended or not because that is apparently all you care about.

You're demonstrating once again that you aren't serious. Nobody would suggest that there aren't excellent universities outside of California, that isn't the issue. The issue is that California has one of the best university systems in the world, 6 of its public universities are in the top 50 and 7 are tier 1. Its community college system is excellent, its cal-state system is very affordable and provides great value.

Great, so instead of whining on forums why don't you start planning your move? California isn't going to become a low-service, low-tax state, what happens with the tax extensions is irrelevant on this matter. If you are seeking a low-tax, lower cost of living area you should leave now, in fact you should have left days ago.

Let me know when you're interested in more than petty insults...okay? In the meantime enjoy your swamp.

In terms of intellectual environment not much as changed. Texas is still a backwards state where intellectualism is attacked and California is still a forward focused state where intellectualism is encouraged.

I agree with some of your points, but having lived in both states I dont think you are correct. Texas is the new frontier, where California was years ago. California is morphing into something else. I dont think thats a bad thing either, its maturing.

CA is becoming and extension of the Northeast which is an extension of Western Europe. High density, high cost, high tax, high regulation, with a big dose of 3rd world two classism.

High density,
Say What?
California has approximately the same land area as Japan with about 1/3 rd as many people, hardly high density.

high cost
bout the same as everywhere else with the advantage of year round fresh vegies.

high tax

Yep a whole 2 or 3 % more than the low tax states.

Quote:
high regulation
bout like most states.

You agree with some points but think I'm incorrect? What exactly am I incorrect about?

In what sense is Texas the new frontier? Texas became a state 5 years before California and is the 2nd populous state in the country. How in the world is that a new frontier? Recently Texas has seen higher population growth than it has in the past, but I don't see how that makes it a "new frontier".
