Its the corporation .. Not the franchises
And yes, corporations are moving headquarters .. freezing hiring in CA (Vmware.com) ... Hilton moved to virginia ... because of taxes, high salaries, etc .. People are scaling their business outside of CA.. Literally no manufacturing here ...

People can keep laughing it up and ignoring it .. Go out and vote for tax extensions.. very soon the only ones left here are going to be you and the people who don't pay any taxes... We'll see how great things are then.

But, let me get off the 'i told you so'... Talk in any business circles and this is on anyone's tongue. I just posted about this today ... This recession is causing company's to re-evaluate their costs ... and when there are tons of qualified people yearning for jobs, no one is going to turn down work because it isn't in sunny California. Businesses realize that .. People who run startups do .. LLC in FL and do all sorts of scams to avoid taxes here.

There is a fair point of taxation and anything beyond that will result in lessened economic activity and potentially less tax revenue.. So enjoy the weather as the jobs become less.. .. A friend at boeing had his whole group relocated to virginia (ca taxes/costs) ...

Companies that left California for cheaper locations :
Company total for 12 months of 2010: 204
Company total for all of 2009: 51

California Still Has Highest
Sales Tax Rate in the Nation
As of Dec. 31, 2010, California remained the state with the highest sales tax rate in the U.S. at 7.25 percent (it’s higher in many municipalities).

So keep it up guys .. The sun/weather wont pay your bills.. You better start thinking smarter and voting properly if you want jobs in this state

Carl's Jr. wants to move headquarters out of Calif. | abc7.com
How does moving to Texas exempt them from California's environmental and labor laws?

It is as expected Norcal Dude.. People are just going to say.. Go ahead and leave.. there are 2 other companies that are better waiting to come here and take your place.. except there isn't

I'm personally awaiting California's decision about the 'temporary' tax extensions come June to make a final decision.

In the startup circles, i know tons of shadow residents of CA .. Live here but have an LLC outside the state (to avoid the LLC fees/regulation/taxes) ...

Meh', people will point and laugh until there's pain .. then they wont be laughing anymore.

Good times to be a profitable business.. Can negotiate some great deals to move out of a particular state.

Bingo.

The headquarter's franchising program will not have to worry about construction costs or tax/regulations. They will collect royalty and licensing fees while making each franchise owner responsible for being in full compliance in the state they reside in.

Hell yeah. It's the only fast food place I eat at now.

On another note, what good does it do for them to move the headquarters to Texas? If they still do business in Ca. they still have to abide by state laws
