Is there a bus from LAX to the Surfliner to go North to SLO ?

yes, it's called the flyaway bus. just make sure that you get on the bus to union station since there are multiple routes.

I concur with BRinSM. He is right on.

Again make sure you take FlyAway to "UNION STATION" (downtown L.A.) As there are other FlyAway buses that take you to Westwood (UCLA), Irvine (O.C.), and Van Nuys (Valley).

if you really wanted to take a train, you could ride the shuttle to the green line station, board the green line, transfer to the blue line, then transfer to the red line to finally get to union station. however, it will be MUCH quicker to get on the bus as it goes direct to the train station with zero stops. unless they come up with a direct express train (decades away), the bus will be faster every time.

right now I just need to learn for a over sea friend how to get to the Surfliner from LAX - 3 different buses ?

your friend has a choice: 1 bus or three trains. i'd go with the bus.

Amtrak Coast Starlight has one trip a day north with a stop in SLO. Leaves LA (Union Station) at 12:15PM and arrives on SLO at 5:43PM or you can take Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner (couple trains a day) to SLO Amtrak
