After I moved to California from the east coast I was shocked there was no Dunkin Donuts. I've lived just about everywhere before, and there was always a DD. They're ubiquitous, like McDonald's or Subway. As the slogan goes, "America Runs on Dunkin".

Is there any good reason why DD would choose to ignore such a lucrative market??

I'm convinced that the only reason my wife and I even visit our home state of Ohio is because of the Dunkin Donuts. I'm with you! Let's get a DD!

I noticed that too. However, I was never a fan of the donuts, I just really like their coffee and you can get Dunkin Donuts coffee at the supermarket, at least in SoCal. So I'm satisfied

Supposedly there were a few some years back. Fullerton had one, IIRC. I learned that little tidbit rat cheer at C-D. I certainly don't remember any, as I was all about Winchell's and The Big Donut (now Randy's).

Target and Walmart have DD coffee in whole bean and ground, Ralphs and Stater Bros have it ground. I'm a fan of the stuff since buying my first bag last year.

DD used to have a few California stores back in the 80s/90s but closed them all. They were test stores as a beginning to a full California rollout but apparently could never do well enough for the company.

Dunkin Donuts is owned by the same company that owns Baskin-Robbins. I always wondered if the financial numbers would work on a co-branded location with DD combined with a BR. Open in the morning doing donuts and coffee then later in the day start offering ice cream.

An excellent explanation! I don't know why I never thought of that. ;-)

Hmmm...I also heard we used to have Krispy Kreme. Yum!

You're right...I checked: Forth Worth has only one DD, but Dallas has three.

I think they're still around but there are fewer of them.
