Ok, so I was bored today, and I just wondered about Southern California being a one big metro, as well as a megalopolis. So what is the possibity they can became a 22.4mil person metro, if they shut down CP?

But it is possibile to create those high altitude cities and communties such as Julian, to relay in with LA at this moment. This means, yeah, the 3,000 foot - even 4,000 foot cities could exist through the place. 8 of those cities could do the deed. But I wonder who, in a person's right side of his mind, would want to live there?

But I guess if 2,000 people live in Julian, then, I guess those cities could reach up to, say, 10,000 people at the max? But our economy is very tough, and I guess we can't do anything until the budget starts to fish itself up. I wonder, if by 2060, there will be a way to demolish mountains...

Megalopolis yes.

Those are determined only by overlapping built up land.

Metro Areas, perhaps not.

If current rules apply in 50 years, then 25% of San Diego residents would have to work in either LA or OC. In 2000 it was less than 1%. So basically SDs labor market would have to collapse and I dont see that happening.

I see greater resident-worker exchange between SD and Riverside counties actually.

If you mess with the natural beauty of California or the climate, you won't need room to grow...

Camp Pendleton could stay where it is, but then San Diego County like I said, create some mountainous cities with 4000 to 5000 foot elevation.

It will depend on commuter rates. Does anybody know if people in the Northern suburbs of San Diego are commuting to Los Angeles metro or vice versa with people who live in the southern suburbs of Los Angeles commuting to San Diego Metro? The reason I asked is because there is a decent level of commuting between the New York City MSA and the Philadelphia MSA. I wonder if this is going on between the Los Angeles MSA and San Diego MSA also. Can anyone from Southern California please enlighten me?

Most people don't want to live at 4000 to 5000 feet. That climate is too different at that elevation.

More likely with Imperial County as well. A lot of people who work in downtown SD commute from place like El Centro and Brawley. My dad also used to commute to El Centro for a job he once had in SD.
