As of Friday, California had collected $40.1 billion in personal income tax revenues for fiscal 2010-11, which is $6.2 billion or 18 percent more than it had collected by the same date last year for fiscal 2009-10.

Unforuntately this increase in income taxes wont match the increase in pensions, mandatory raises, cost of living increases, etc.

California voters have got to be some of the most ignorant humans on the planet. Why instead of voting for higher taxes think about pension reform, think about your already outrageous cost of living, think about all the money you pay to the DMV for vehicle registration and other fees, think about Unions and how to get rid them or reform them, think about the high taxes you pay to the state, think about the waste and abuse of our taxpayers money. Think about the disability lifer scammers...I have never in my entire 46 years on this planet have seen so many people claiming disability! And why should you and I have to pay for it? It appears that the voters just can't wrap their minds around anything but lets vote for raising taxes

I hardly ever post in the forums... Please read the latest edition of the Economist. In a nutshell, most folks in California are idiots. The same goes for most people in this country. It sounds harsh but it is true.

I could not agree more! What is sad is that the politicians are very well aware how stupid the voters are...that is why we will continue to be raked over the coals.

Everyone please see The Inside Job http://www.sonyclassics.com/insidejob/

I think the real "horror" of the initiative process is that it's used by the Legislature and Governors to make end runs around their own responsibilities. Next in line for worst element are the many, unfunded mandates. California is wheel chair bound and hobbled after shooting itself in its feet all too often.
