Meanwhile storm #1 is starting to hit the Bay Area. On that note, it appears based on radar there may be a tornadic thunderstorm near the Marin - Sonoma line just east of Bodega Bay.

Given the high sun angle and early time of year this would not be a complete surprise.

The hook I saw on radar late AM dissipated after it hit the hills between Bodega and Petaluma. Will be interesting to see if there are any storm reports later.

The mid week system will have even more impressive dynamics. I may be out chasing on Wednesday, the way things are looking.

A line of strong cells has formed off shore. Looking at the composite loop I see a hook. It's heading straight for SF. This might get interesting.

Coming from north to south too. I just came back to Rockridge from El Cerrito. It was raining pretty good there. It's now starting to come down a bit here in Rockridge.

As it turned out only one of yesterday's cells, the one by Bodega, had any real potential. Never saw any reports, in any case. Today, on the other hand, just about anything could happen. Same deal tomorrow. I'm looking out the window at a wall cloud.

Pretty good cold front early this AM. Now we've got the cold pool with good bands of showers.

Models are now hinting at another short series of systems like the current / recent ones ~ mid month.

The mid-month systems do not look impressive at all.

Flow aloft is now from the North, down here it's from the SW. Looks like the upper level northerly will continue into mid next week at times becoming offshore, even down to the surface. Enjoy it, it surely won't last.
