Hi there!

I've been to Mendocino before, and I'm planning a trip with hubby for a coastal trip between the bay area and the Oregon boarder and was wondering what your favorite coastal towns are and why?
Like Bodega Bay, Eureka etc?

Thanks!!

I've never been north of Mendocino along the coast, but within the Bay Area (not sure where the North Coast really starts -- Sonoma coast? Mendocino coast?), I'd start at Stinson Beach for the afternoon in Marin County. The town is small, there's a few places to eat, shop, browse, they even do "Shakespeare by the Beach" in the summer, but it's really all about the beautiful beach. Stick to the northern end where it's quieter, and walk to Bolinas lagoon. Bolinas is also funky. Bodega Bay is okay; not much to do but check out the scenery. As you drive north, there really aren't that many towns anyway, so you might as well hit all of them. Make a detour at Jenner and go into the Russian River area, then come back to the coast. Make detours in Mendocino to go into the wineries.

Point Reyes
Tomales
Dillon Beach
Bodega
Occidental
Valley Ford
Sebastopol
Bodega Bay

We usually stick to the beaches and parks. A lot of great unique shopping in these towns. We never go south of Point Reyes -too many tourists and Fog City people. Lots of family owned farm stores, farmers markets and cafes/restaurants.

Don't forget the fresh oysters at the farms along Tomales Bay.

If you are going soon especially I recommend near the NorCal coastal Redwoods at the CA/OR border. You could stay in Crescent City or Brookings, OR. Brookings also has an amazing state park called Samuel Boardman. This is from outdoor lover's perspective and not so much about hangin' out in the towns themselves for shopping, etc...

Default I now need a 3 week vacation! LOL!

Wow! So much to explore!
I've also been surfin' da net, and Trinidad looks sweet and someone told me of a place called Fern Canyon in the Prairie Creek Redwoods! That looks awesome!

Default Beautiful Pics Mountain Surfer!

Brookings also has an amazing state park called Samuel Boardman.

Yup, we're going to do Brookings... this trip has definately been extended!

This is from outdoor lover's perspective and not so much about hangin' out in the towns themselves for shopping, etc...

I'm really not a big "shops" gal to the great relief of hubby!
Just a little bit maybe, but mostly we love scenery, taking pictures and our bikes will be in the back of our Huyndai Santa Fe!
