Im from upstate ny, I want to move to california I have yet to find an affordable, safe place to live considering ill be by myself im trying to find a possible studio apt near stores, school, and close to the beach and a city. Where should I look?

There is nothing affordable close to the beach and a city. You would have to live inland for something affordable. Check out Sacramento - about a 2 hour drive to the beach.

Do you have a job lined up yet? California unemployment is still out of control, you'd be best to find the job THEN narrow your living area search down.
