Hello:

At this point in my life I'm looking to be happy, not rich, not owning lots of material things, but happy. I love to be close to a big city with lots of outdoor things to do, yet live in a quiet area. I love the ocean, since I was born in one of the Islands in the Azores. I love energy and ethnicity, San Francisco has many things I'm looking for.

I now live in Salt Lake city, have been here for the past 10 years, and I'm miserable here. I feel like I'm just existing, and NOT living. So I set a plan into motion, find a job, and move to the Bay Area all within 4 months; regardless if I had work or not. Deadline is the end of September!

I'm 49 years of age, work as a computer network engineer. Have been looking for work out there in the Bay Area for the past 4 months, no luck. I'm single with no children.

I have some money saved, but I'm not wealthy by any means. So finding a studio apartment for under 900.00, initially, since I'll be moving without a job, and will have to survive until I do. A safe area is a plus, and close to BART.

There you have it, any help would be appreciated!

Please, no comments on how I'm making a mistake moving out there without having a job first. If you ever lived in Salt Lake city, I think maybe you would understand my reasons for getting out of here.

Peace and God Bless to anyone that reads this.
-Joseph

You won't find a great ocean experience in the Bay Area, but nearby Santa Cruz and the rest of Monterey Bay are good for that.

Try Folsom, CA. There are several high-tech employers in the area. There's lots of recreation since we are at the confluence of two rivers. And, it's only two hours from San Francisco and an hour and a half from spectacular snow sports at Lake Tahoe.

You will like SF, there are jobs, it will take finding them. My daughter found a room in a house in Pacific Heights to rent for $750.00. So, what you want is out there. Ocean Beach is a good cool windy beach. Just to the north is the Presidio area and across the Golden Gate is the spectacular Marin Headlands. All within Bicycling distance of Downtown SF.

If you are a straight male, you should find a good supply of educated intelligent interesting women, the odds are in your favor.
