Yeah, that's what I like about low-income liberal type areas...no drugs

You know those liberals are so anti-drug

Those conservatives are always trying to legalize drugs

Those "Blue" areas of CA are probably some of the most drug free areas of the country Especially the weed growing capital of America up north

Or maybe they just do every drug except meth

I suspect low-income, high unemployment areas are more likely to have meth/drug problems; political ideology has nothing to do with it. I also doubt that many people attending church on Sunday are working in a meth lab on Monday. You might be suffering some lingering effects of altitude sickness.

Even though I don't agree with many of your political views, I can usually see where you are coming from. I can see your rationale, just disagree. This post was just wacko though.

Huh, you may have missed the inference, the conservative bible belt areas are generally economically deprived, hence, meth.

I don't see much difference between Christian or other religion and drugs, both come from the same psychological operant.

You remember Cheech and Chong doncha, " I used to be, etc etc.

Try not to use sarcasm or irony in a post, they don't come across very well.

W-e-l-l, technically, as the crow flies, Paradise is a bit closer to Nevada than it is to the Pacific coast. Somehow, it does not seem that far to Nevada. The drive east, on 70/89 through Plumas County is absolutely gorgeous, one of the most scenic I have ever taken. As to pinpointing just where Paradise fits on the map, more than just a few of its residents insist that it is in the southern part of The State of Jefferson.

I lived in Eastern California for 40 years. Geographically Eastern CA is east of the Pacific divide, or Sierra Crest.

I also lived, near Paradise, in the scenic mining camp of Red Hill Mine, just up the road from Whiskey Flats.

No one regards Paradise as in Eastern CA anymore than they would consider Sonora or Lancaster as in Eastern CA.

Most of us are well aware of this. Sarcasm sometimes needs to be defused and responded to with satire and wit. The blade does cut in both directions, something that many posters overlook.

When I lived in Paradise (sort of) I had a Fiat Sports car, and I skied. From Paradise to Squaw Valley via 70 and 89, was three hours, but as much fun as skiing.

It was 2.5 hours via 99, 20 and I80.

tough choice to make every day, except, I seldom took it home, as 70 in the dark becomes sadistic.

I also had an old pick up truck and would go into the woods, cut a pickup load of big manzanita bucked into 18"s park at the Paradise Park until someone came by to buy it. One pickup load paid for one day of skiing, gas, lift ticket, and dinner with a date in Nevada City on the way home.

Default Driving in Paradise, CA

[quote=.highnlite;20186887]You may enjoy it, many old people do. Driving down the Skyway at 20mph, turning right or left without signals, changing lanes without looking over ones shoulder, we were convinced that DMV gave the old folks a special license that allowed them to drive 4 miles from their home, but no more.

I have driven in Paradise, and also in Magalia, and never felt more safe in my life. And no, I'm not 99 years old yet. I've driven on the German autobahns at speeds of up to 130 mph, so I'm not scared of higher speeds. Driving on the Skyway is great and not dangerous at all. We got lost in Chico, however; this happened before we bought a Garmin GPS navigator. Chico is not a problem for us after the arrival of the Garmin. But in Paradise, after 2 days there, you won't need a map or a navigator, that place is very easy to navigate once you recognize the major street names. The chances that we move to Paradise/Magalia in about 3 years are 50-60 %. We just adore Paradise. The only negative I can think of is the fire hazard, but that is always present in California.

Not in the demographic I mentioned; they're more apt to be addicted to scotch and soda and shuffleboard.

Heck, I felt safe too, I drove a 53 GMC truck with a steel I beam for a bumper.

My wife has one, I have never understood the need. One should be able to put the topology of a place in their minds and they should be able to navigate off that.
