Way to go to encourage successful people to stay in-state. Duh! Let's penalize the entrepreneurs. That's bright!

Racing to Tax the Rich | Fox & Hounds Daily
When the market collapses and brings the whole economy down with it .. People will get the importance of the rich, their capital, and their capital investments.. I don't expect a common joe-six-pack to understand the tight dependence their livelihood has on markets but i don't expect them to be so ignorant to believe that rich people's money is just sitting in a bank humping itself laughing at the economic downturn.. That huge amount of capital is being put to work to ensure companies are funded .. Governments are funded ... start-ups are funded and .. people continue to have jobs.. The government is obviously doing no greater good w/ it .. Yet, j6p doesn't care.. Take it away from the rich and burn it for all they care.. they'd even be happy w/ that result..

What morons

Luckily, as an American .. and an investor (all you need is a computer terminal) .. you have many options as to where to locate yourself and money to avoid such mobs of clowns.

Nothing -- I repeat: NOTHING -- in the course of human history on this planet, has ever stopped those with the personalities that crave riches from pursuing their passions for accumulating more wealth ... not for long ... and neither will that happen now just because they have their taxes increased a few percent ...

Temporary hiccups, Chinese fire-drills of reassessment how to play their pyrotechnic money games -- sure ... and hiccups are a pain in the arse ... but the poor rich will survive, as they always have -- and continue to prosper -- and drag the populace along with them ... it's kind of a parasite/host relationship ... no, the rich are not the hosts ... they rely on the herd as much as the other way around ... yes, it's called symbiosis

... until, that is, we all destroy ourselves through our uncontrollable stupidities

What's funny here? Again.. lets dig in and pull out some qualitative info shall we?

Switzerland : Tax Haven capital of the world
Switzerland has an overwhelmingly private sector economy and low tax rates by the Western World standards; overall taxation is one of the smallest of developed countries. Switzerland is an easy place to do business; Switzerland ranks 21st of 178 countries in the Ease of Doing Business Index.

They have official languages.. An actual identity and culture .. Don't allow any old idiots to immigrate to their country.. have a culture of hard work .. culture of education... That's why they are prosperous ..

Norway
Natural Resources .. Soo much of it that citizens get an annual dividend ..
83% of the population is norwegian .. Immigration is heavily curtailed ... the people are hard working.. education is paramount .. and have a cultural identity.. an official language...

Australia
Same as Norway

Signapore
Very strict immigration laws ...
VERY STRICT IMMIGRATION LAWS ..
People there are industrious and productive..
Taxes are high but go to very great productive use..
Government safety net isn't what you would expect.. They stress, family is the first safety net.. not govt. ...

and so on and so forth ...
Is soclialism winning out ? No it's not ..

What is winning out ? Simple.. let me bullet the commonalities and points :

> Sense of national pride .. you aren't x from y living in z amongst those from a,b,c,d,e,f,g ..you are a z .. and you want to do whats best not only for yourself but for your country.. Not some rando arse country half a world away that your great grand mami' was born in
> A defined national language
> A defined and distinct culture
> strict immigration laws
> A well educated populous that views education as paramount

Socialism is not the root ...

The root is a unified body of citizens who are well educated and hard working.
Given that they are unified, they are there for each other and want to build a beautiful country. They are not obsessed with screwing over their fellow man, rather, they are concerned with helping them. Govt. is not full of idiots .. they are full of people unified w/ its citizens to bring prosperity to the country .. Immigration is such that it doesn't allow any old Tom dick and Harry to come in and destroy this unification .. Signapore doesn't say . give us your weak/your poor.. they say give us your strong/educated.. i.e - they have immigration policies for those w/ advanced degrees .. they dont let poor unsustained people into their country.. if they do it is strictly on work visas w/ no path to citizenship.. For w/ unchecked immigration, the 'recipe' of good citizens that allows for the society to flourish would be destroyed through division...

When I have a person who thinks like me .. has a culture like me.. and that is centered on country .. We are aligned .. As we are aligned, I care not to destroy my fellow man as that would in turn hurt/destroy me.. Rather I want to help and build him and in turn build myself .. my country .. for not only myself but for my children and their children .. This aligns w/ pooling resources together to more efficiently engage in social programs for the good of all .. for all are generally for the good and unified on it ...

All to often people forget the all too important points and necessary pieces of this loose term 'socialism'.. as it stands now, that just wont work in the U.S ... We generally have no real culture here .. people are from all over BFE .. people could give two sh*ts about their fellow man.. We have no official language .. People sometimes pledge allegiance to some rag tag country they are no longer a citizen of.. People are all about screwing their fellow man to get ahead .. buy sh*t and impress somebody .. Education is the least of people's concerns and only serves as a means to get a good job in order to buy more sh*t .. Our culture, if you want to call it one is : consumerism.

So, sorry... the 'recipe' of citizens is the issue in America .. The permutations of social structures that can be created from the citizens in this country are highly limited to the 'quality' of the ingredients... If we had 'socialism' . it would fail due to corruption/greed and everyone raping and pillaging the piggy bank .. Oh wait, that already is what is going on by the rich/poor/public sector/unions/lobbyist/corporations/.. on and on and on.

So, that is the root, if you were at all looking for one.
One nation united under screwing each other over for personal advancement... 'Socialism' just doesn't work when the citizens have this mindset

Nothing... I repeat ((nothing)) in human history has every forced those with riches/wealth to pay taxes they deem unfair.. Looking back in history, you will see that taxes used to be way higher on the rich .. in some cases 89% .. Did many who fell in this bracket pay it? hell no ...

So, write up some bill to stick it to them and tax them more ... It's just highly unlikely any fruits will come of it.. I guess you'll feel good at night though.

And yes, certain tax rules cause money to move to different areas .. So, yeah.. make the wrong move and you could see huge flows of money (for which there could be great damage caused to the economy) ..

Such 'movements' have occurred all throughout human history.... It's called tax strategy investing.

Actually, all that income is saved up in a rainy day fund. Even the government does not get a dividend, far less the citizens. You are thinking of Alaska.

88% of the population of the USA is American. Immigration to Norway has been quite severe for some time.

4 official languages, 2 forms of Norwegian, Saami and Kvæn.

You make good points on the value of a cohesive country, social trust and cultural capital, but the information supporting it is not very factual.

Of course you tax the rich.
You can't tax the poor, they don't have any money.

Ah, the forum's Wonder Boy is back ... note: you respond to my post as if I advocated taxing the rich ... I do -- but I didn't (not in the post you responded to) ... my observation was, and remains, that many predict that taxing the rich will drive them away (when their minions cry out that we need them the most) ... and my point was / is: no it won't ... [unfortunately,] nothing will drive them away ... they are like a bad penny: they keep coming back (with their love of tawdry superficials). This is especially true in California: the finest 163,696 sq mi on the planet earth ... I suspect that somehow they'll figure out a way to stay and own whatever they want

And as for "tax strategy investing" -- your view of "human hstory" is pretty short ... taxing the rich and their response strategies are pretty recent activities relative to "human history".
