Ugh. Only 4 Metros saw Manufacturing Job Growth.

Well, at least the Top 2 are in California, in the Central Valley at that.

This is good news for the local economy, but I am very surprised to see that Bakersfield saw growth in manufacturing growth. I would guess it had something to do with the oil industry here.

Group A has 10 jobs and sees 5 job increase...
has an increase in growth of 50%
Group B has 1000 jobs and sees a job increase of 499 jobs
and has an increase in growth of 49.9% ...

Group A has a bigger increase in job growth (percent wise) but appox 10x less jobs created than group B.

The report ranked based on percent wise growth which is a flawed metric if doing a national comparison. That being said, the noted cities did have the biggest percent growth which is easy when you dont have a large amount of jobs in the first place... Further, the timeline of capture for growth measurement is suspect

Just providing some perspective.

Well the math seems to work out to about 500 jobs for Bakersfield and about 800 for Modesto in a five year period. Given the economic climate and their population base those are fairly good numbers.
