Outstanding gesture. Something tells me he has planned well and will not hurt for money.

Of course, they don't mention how much he's going to make now that he's collecting his retirement on top of his reduced salary. People here I think were a little more cynical about it. His wife is a retired principal, so they'll be making a good chunk of change as two retired education employees.

Still, it's cheaper than paying him his regular salary or hiring someone new and paying them a similar high salary, and I know he is hoping the savings can prevent cuts to certain programs. The takeaway for me, though is just how much these people make in salaries and then retirement benefits, and how different that is from the vast majority of the people in the area. I think the only people I know who are doing well are current and former government employees.

What gets me is that a Schools Chief can make almost 2/3 of the President of the United States basic Salary. That is absolutely stupid. Yeah for him giving something back. BOOOOO for us in allowing him to make so much to begin with.

He's not collecting his retirement, he's donating it to charity.

Notice I said base pay. I understand all of the ancillary expenses incurred by the office.

Again I still believe that the pay the Schools Chief received is way out of line. I think its great what he is doing don't get me wrong.
