Greetings!

My husband and I are likely going to retire to the Tehachapi area some time in 2012 or 2013. The homes we have seen on realtor.com, zillow, etc., use a variety of heating.

What would be a typical cost of heating for a one-story home that is about 1800 sq ft? I would be interested in comparing costs for homes with natural gas, propane, or any other heating method. It would also be interesting to know whether the costs differ because of elevation (e.g., 4000 ft versus 5000 ft). I've always lived in the city where natural gas is the norm, so don't know how to plan or search for the right house.

Thanks!

Deana

Not much difference other than delivery for natural gas or propane. Heaters, gas dryers, ovens and ranges will have to be jetted for one or the other. I have found natural gas to be more reasonable on the budget.

Default Thanks!

We see a lot of homes for sale, and wonder what the difference in costs would be for natural gas. Thanks for the info!
